What You Need for Dumpster Diving:

Gloves—this is a big one. Good boots and clothes that can get dirty. You are not going to want to dig through that trash without them. You will need a pipe wrench, a Phillips head screw driver, a flat blade, a hammer, a razor knife, and pliers. You need a long stick with a hook to help you pull bags out of dumpsters so you don’t need to jump in, and you need a stick to hit the sides of trashcans and dumpsters to check for raccoons. A raccoon is not afraid of people and will fight you for that dumpster. Don’t fight, let him have it. ■
