Ask a Vendor
The “Ask a Vendor” column allows us to share the thoughts and wisdom of the diverse group of people who make up the Denver VOICE vendor pool. Do you have a question for VOICE vendors? See below for more information on how to submit it.
What brought you to Denver, and why did you decide to stay here after becoming homeless?
Tim Jones
I came back from Washington because my mom was dying. I asked God to take care of my mom, and in exchange, I promised Him I’d quit drugs. Shortly after that, I found the Denver VOICE.
Brian Augustine
I lived in the suburbs, but came downtown to get services and get back on my feet.
Albert Bland
I lived in Detroit during a turbulent time in the 90s. Fortunately, my job relocated to Denver. Once I arrived and saw the mountains, I instantly fell in love with the city. The rest is history.
John Alexander
I came through Denver years ago, 1980 or so. I had been living in Minnesota before. After we got to Denver, I told my wife that all the other places we had lived had just been places to visit, and that we should make Denver our home. After becoming homeless, I stayed here because of the Denver VOICE. ■
